Tree Lighting Ceremony

This years Tree Lighting Ceremony will surely be yet another wonderful evening filled with the joy of the Season.  As always, children’s’ choirs from our various local schools, special dignitaries and of course Santa Claus himself, arriving via the Los Angeles Fire Department, will all be in attendance.

The Tree

In the median of Glendale Blvd as it passes thru Atwater Village towers a 50-year-old California Redwood Tree. At 80 feet tall, this tree can be seen as far away as the Hyperion Bridge to the West, and serves as a distinct landmark for those traveling from the East along Atwater’s “main street” business corridor.

For the Winter Holidays the Tree is decorated with strings of holiday lights and ornaments, serving as beacon of community pride. The Chamber is very proud to incorporate this living monument into our holiday tradition every season.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony

Since 1991 the Atwater Village community has come together to heralded in the Winter Holiday Season by lighting our “Charley Brown” tree to the carols and cheers joyful spectators.

As always, children’s’ choirs from our various local schools, special dignitaries and of course Santa Claus himself usher in the lighting of the tree.

Traditionally a Chamber affair the Tree Lighting Ceremony turned into a true community event in recent years. While the Chamber continues to play a central role it is no longer just the Chamber spearheading this Atwater Village tradition. Responding to past calls for help community groups, businesses, religious institutions, individual volunteers and the City now work together to make this event into a true community event.
